Former Connecticut Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele is locked in a spirited battle for mayor of Stamford. Mr. Fedele had little trouble securing the city Republican Party’s nomination and now is facing Democrat David Martin, who made an unsuccessful mayoral bid in 2009.

Back on Sept. 18, I noted that Mr. Fedele has received some high-profile support from his former boss, former Gov. M. Jodi Rell. This is significant because then-Gov. Rell and then-Lt. Gov. Fedele had a well-publicized feud during the last years of their political partnership, and there was no guarantee that Mrs. Rell, one of Connecticut’s most popular governors, would back her former No. 2.

It looks like everything remains hunky-dory.

Hearst Connecticut Media Group has reported Mrs. Rell has recorded a robo-call touting the virtues of Mr. Fedele. Read about it here.

Back in 2010, there was speculation that the Rell/Fedele feud led to the then-governor’s decision to remain neutral as her deputy fought an unsuccessful battle for the Republican nomination for governor. Considering how things are going now, there is no doubt that Mrs. Rell and Mr. Fedele have buried the hatchet.

While I have my suspicions, it would be interesting to read or hear about what drove them apart to begin with.
